On 9 April 2026, the META library hosted a meeting of the "Reading University" book club on the theme "Detective: the Evolution of the Genre".

Participants discussed the development of the detective genre — from classical plots with logical puzzles and the "locked-room" mystery to modern psychological detectives, themes of disappearance and unreliable narration.

The meeting was held in a discussion format and aimed to analyse the genre's features, its transformation and its influence on reader interest. Participants shared their impressions of works they had read, discussed favourite authors and current trends in detective fiction.

The event helped foster reading culture, critical thinking and a stronger interest in literary fiction.
